YO TOCO — EXTENDED BIO

“Yo toco” means “I play” in Spanish—and for this band, playing is first and foremost a form of communication. Vocalist Sara Decker, Spanish guitarist David Minguillón and drummer/percussionist Jeroen Truyen met while studying at the Maastricht Conservatory. Their musical connection grew into a long-running project with a shared sense of timing, trust and curiosity.

With bassist David Andrés, the core trio expands into a quartet. Latin jazz and Brazilian music form the meeting point, but Yo Toco’s identity comes from the way the musicians move together: rhythmic detail, improvisation and a generous sense of space. The band tours as an independent project and is currently preparing the release of its forthcoming debut album, Saudades—a record shaped by years of concerts, friendship and a musical language developed together.
