Sara Decker — Long Distance

Friendship, loneliness and relationships across distance: Long Distance looks back to Sara’s years in New York and the stories she gathered there. Between original songs and the jazz standards “How Deep Is the Ocean” and “It Never Entered My Mind”, she finds a personal way into swing and modern jazz. The music carries the city’s energy while making room for quiet, intimate moments.

Decker wrote and arranged the music for her debut during her Fulbright studies at the Manhattan School of Music. In 2017 she recorded it at Systems Two in Brooklyn with an American-European ensemble. The album features Sara Decker (voice and arrangements), Julius Rodriguez (piano), Kaisa Mäensivu (bass), Jeroen Truyen (drums), Oskar Stenmark (trumpet and flugelhorn), Caleb Mason (trombone) and Schadrack Pierre (backing vocals). It was released independently. Jeroen Truyen handled production, mixing and editing; Dave Darlington mastered the recordings.
